Why do you need a website?

The common answer today, when someone is looking for a product, service, or information is “Google it”.
If you haven’t got a presence on the web, you are missing out on a lot of the potential clients you are trying to reach.

How to get started.

First thing to do is get in contact with me.
You can email me at robert@sgstudio1.com , or call 206-226-8518.
We can discuss the best solutions for you.
Next we get your vision turned into a reality.

I have been developing for about as long as the web has been readily available.
My real passion lies in helping people get their message out there.

I live here in the LC Valley, and for years I have been a mobile and home audio and electronics installer.
Developing web applications and websites has been a hobby and a passion for many years.

Finally I am available full time  to develop websites and applications as career.
After learning to write in PHP, Javascript, Java, CSS, HTML, XHTML, Flash AS2-3  and just about any other language relevant to the web
I have confidence that there isn’t a solution I am unable to find.

My portfolio is growing and I would like the opportunity to work on as many projects as I am able to get.

Get Started

First Steps

Do you already have a domain name?

If not the first step is to find a domain name; this is the name that you type into the browser to navigate to your site, like “yourcoolname.com”.
There are a multitude of choices to select and register your domain name. While choosing your name you want to find one that is relevant. I recommend choosing a name that isn’t terribly long, but in some cases it can work if you need the relevance aspect to work.

Do you already have hosting?

If not, the next step in the process is to find someplace to host your domain name; this is the space on a server somewhere that holds all of the files that make up your site.
Again there are a ton of hosting companies out there with a myriad of different plans. When selecting a plan there are some things to consider and we can discuss those during a consultation.

Next, we get to decide what your audience is.

Before we get started designing, we need to decide who your target audience is and the best way to appeal to them.
By targeting a distinct or not so distinct target audience, we can better design and layout your site.

Now we are ready for design.

If you have an idea of how you want your site to look and feel, now is the time to get to that. We can start by looking at and evaluating direct competitors to the site we will create. Determine what you like, what you don’t like, and get a feel for how you want your image to be displayed.
More importantly, the content and message you display to your audience is what is going to make your site stand out, in search engines and to the user.

  • Design a site that gets your branding out there.
  • What is the most important thing for your site to say?
  • Make all information available to your clients.
  • Answer questions that are frequently asked.

  • Do you have a product or craft you create?
  • Do you want to sell online?
  • Don’t know how to get started?
  • Many solutions are out there….which one is right for you?
    • Display your product.
    • Accept payment
    • Manage customer information and orders.
    • Schedlue
    • Send files or data

  • Simple hit counter?
  • Collect information from your viewers or clients.
  • Send newsletters or offers.
  • Reasonable rates.
  • Determine the cost of your site.

I have been looking at the cost of advertising lately and most advertising requires a fair commitment to continue to spend each month on either print, radio, or television. And a lot of those companies, probably, were found by you through thier website.

These are all great solutions for keeping your name out there. A website has an initial investment that may be more than your monthly bill elsewhere but only requires minimal investment to maintain an ever growing number of impressions.

  • What do I get?
You will get as little, or as much, help getting your site setup as you want. I can help you decide what the most relevant solution for your business is. I can also help to overcome some of the hurdles you face with your clients each day. Only you can decide what you feel you need, I can help to create the solution.
  • How long does it take?

A clear cut timeline is a very important part of the process. After we decide to start a project, we can look at the solution and decide what the most appropriate deadline will be.

A static page, if all of the content is available, can be live in a matter of hours. Where as a more interactive solution can take weeks. The only way to decide on the real timeline is to find your solution.

Most content needs to be provide by you. Only you know what you want to display to your potential clients.

I can help get photos and other required media together. Taking photos at your business or developing logos or other branding if it is not already available.
